Memsahebche Ayushya by Vasudha Joshi मेमसाहेबचे आयुष्य

मेमसाहेब म्हणजे भारतावर दीडशे वर्षे सत्ता गाजवलेल्या ब्रिटिश शासकांच्या स्त्रिया. भारतीय स्त्रियांच्या मानाने त्यांना मोठा अवकाश मिळाला. त्याचा उपयोग करून त्यांनी खूप प्रवास केला, डोळसपणाने निरीक्षण केले आणि आपले अनुभव लिहून ठेवले. त्यातील बहुतेक व्यवस्थितपणे जपून ठेवण्यात आले. त्यांच्या सहाय्याने ब्रिटिश राजवटीचा सामाजिक इतिहास समजून घेण्यास मदत होते. ते करण्याचा हा प्रयत्न मेमसाहेबचे आयुष्य ब्रिटिश राजवटीकडे एक वेगळा दृष्टिक्षेप या पुस्तकातून लेखिका डॉ वसुधा जोशी यांनी सांगितलेला आहे.

Memsaheb refers to the wives of the British rulers who ruled India for 150 years. They were given a lot of freedom compared to Indian women. Using this, they traveled a lot, observed life in India and wrote down their experiences. Most of them have been well preserved which help us understand the social history of the British rule. This attempt to do so is narrated by author Dr. Vasudha Joshi in her Memsahebche Ayushya A Different Perspective on the British Raj book.
