सन १९४६ मध्ये प्रकाशित झालेल्या कै.कृ.पां. कुलकर्णी संपादित मराठी व्युत्पत्तिकोशा नंतर मराठीतील हा पहिलाच व्युत्पत्तिकोश आहे. प्राचार्य रामदास डांगे आणि श्रीमती सुप्रिया महाजन यांनी संकलित केलेल्या या कोशाचे स्वरुप मुख्य:ता संकलनात्मक असून विविध संदर्भग्रंथांमधून मिळालेल्या अनेक शब्दव्युत्पत्तींची भर ह्यात पडलेली दिसते. प्रथम शब्द नोंदवून पुढे चौकटी कंसात त्याच्या संभाव्य व्युत्पत्ती दिल्या आहेत व त्यानंतर शब्दांचा अर्थ नोंदला आहे. कोशात उपयोजिलेल्या संक्षेपांची सूची कोशाच्या सुरुवातीस दिली आहे.

Marathi Vyutpattikosh is compiled by Prin. Ramdas Dange and Smt. Supriya Mahajan, the format of this dictionary is mainly compilation and many etymologies obtained from various bibliographies are added. First the words are listed followed by their possible derivations in square brackets followed by the meaning of the words. A list of abbreviations used in the glossary is given at the beginning of the glossary.
